The Thunderbird email application allows you to create multiple identities to provide different return addresses on outgoing messages. This is useful for departments or organizations which have a shared email address. For example, IT Services uses this feature to send emails as helpdesk@uwrf.edu. In many cases, this feature is used with a shared email folder and it may be desireable to use a shared folder for Sent messages as well.
If you have not already done so, create an identity using the procedure documented here, then follow these instructions:
1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings...
2. In the Account Settings window, click the button for Manage Identities (circled in red below)

3. In the Identities window that appears, click Edit

4. In the Identity Settings window, click on the Copies & Folders tab.

5. Select "Other" under the options for where to place a copy when sending messages, and use the drop-down menu next to the option to specify which folder to save sent messages to. Click OK when it's satisfactory.
