Checking Netscape Messenger settings for an existing account

This document describes how to check Netscape Messenger email settings for an account which has already been setup. This may be necessary if you have just converted to a Falcon account, for instance.

To check your Messenger email settings, open the Edit menu and select Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings... Set it up as in the image below, but with your settings. The Account Name: field can be whatever you want to call the account. Fill in your name in the Your Name: field and your full UWRF email address in the next field.

Then click the Server Settings menu and be sure the server name is mail.uwrf.edu (see the image below). For User Name: fill in your new Falcon account username. You should not need to adjust anything else on this page.

Now click the Outgoing Server (SMTP) menu and check that the server name is smtp.uwrf.edu The username should be your Falcon account username. It will be a W followed by seven numbers. If you don't have or don't know your Falcon account username and password, use FAA to find them.

For IMAP to work correctly you will need to adjust a few more settings. Please proceed to the configuring copies and folders step.
