Eudora for Mac Inbox

Eudora is free program for checking, managing and sending email. When used in the IMAP configuration that is recommended by IT Services, some parts of the Inbox may be confusing.

The Inbox Window

By default, the Inbox window should look similar to this:

Columns

The Inbox window has several columns to show information about messages:

	Message status (read, unread, forwarded, redirected)
	Priority
	Attachments indicator
	Label
	Who the message is from
	Date message was sent
	Size of the message (in Kbytes)
	Status of message on server (downloaded, partially downloaded, marked for deletion)
	Mood rating of the message
	Subject of the message

Message Status Column: some of these indicators are for outgoing messages and may not apply to messages in your Inbox

	unread (Inbox) or sendable message
	read (Inbox) or unsendable message
	Replied
	Redirected
	Forwarded
	Queued (will be sent when Eudora next checks mail)
	Timed send (queued to be sent at specific time)
	Sent
	Sending (in progress)
	Could not be sent because of error
	Never sent
	Recovered by table of contents rebuild

Server Status Column: indicates whether the contents of the message have been downloaded from the mail server or marked for deletion on the server

	Message headers (From, Date, Size, Subject) have been downloaded. An Internet connection is required to read this message.
	Message body and possibly parts of attachments have been downloaded. The message can be read without an Internet connection, but attachments cannot be viewed.
	Message and attachments completely downloaded.
	Message has been marked to be deleted.

Window divider bar: this bar appears either at the bottom of the window, or in the middle of the window separating the list of messages from the message preview.

	Toggles (shows and hides) the preview window
	Size information, including the number of messages, the combined size of messages, and the amount of space saved if messages marked for deletion are purged. This is also a button that can be clicked on to clean out messages marked for deletion.
	Resize the preview window ... click and drag to move the divider bar up and down.
