Creating new mailboxes in Eudora
6 for Windows
This document describes how to create new mailboxes in Eudora.
It also describes how to fix the incorrect display of mailboxes.
You can create mailboxes based on projects, people, or other areas of interest.
Then move messages of this type to your mailboxes to make it easier to find
them. Organizing your email and deleting messages you no longer need will greatly
improve performance. It will also help to prevent you from exceeding your mail
quota, and will also make it easier to find things.
To create a new mailbox in Eudora
- The mailbox list is generally on the left side in your Eudora window. If
it is not already displayed, click the Tools menu and then Mailboxes.
- You can make new folders anywhere inside of your Inbox, which
is under <Dominant>.
To do so, right-click the Inbox or any folder inside your Inbox, and choose
New...
- The new mailbox dialogue will appear. Type a name for your new folder
and click OK.
Important note: Do not select Make
it a folder. If you do, your list of mailboxes may display incorrectly.
If this happens, right-click <Dominant> and choose Refresh Mailbox
List from the drop-down menu. This won't be necessary if you avoid selecting
the Make it a folder option.
- Eudora will create the new folder and display it alphabetically under your
Inbox. To organize further, you could also create mailboxes inside of these
new mailboxes.
- Now you can drag and drop messages into
your new folder from your Inbox. To move several messages at once, first
select the messages you want to move. Use the Ctrl key while clicking messages
in your Inbox to select multiple messages. To select a whole range of messages,
click the first message and then hold the shift key while you click the
last message. Once your messages are selected, click and drag the messages
to the new mailbox. Hold the mouse button down while doing this.
Now you can organize that oversized Inbox. Move mail that you want to keep
to sub-folders so you can easily find them later. Delete any unneeded messages
to further reduce the clutter.
If you are have difficulty with creating mailboxes, moving
or deleting messages, please contact
