Using the projector remote controls

Two commonly used remotes on campus are described and pictured below. Both remotes have a small green button on the top. This button is for turning the projector on and off. To turn it on, press the button once. When it is on, it can be turned off by pressing it twice.

Both remotes have a button labled as LASER. This button turns on the laser pointer feature of the remote.

BLANK

The BLANK button will mute the video display of the projector. The projector will switch to showing a blank screen. This is useful if there is a time when you desire that nothing be displayed, but don't want to turn off the projector.

VIDEO

The VIDEO button cycles the projector between three different inputs. This button is used if you want to display the VCR/DVD output. The first time the button is pushed, you will see "Detecting ... Video". This mode shows the VCR/DVD player output. If pressed again, the display will change to say "Detecting ... S-Video". This mode is not used, and will not display anything. A third pressing of the button will show "Detecting ... Component". This mode is also not usd and will not display anything. Another button press will cycle back to the first mode.

RGB

The RGB button cycles the projector between three different inputs. This button is used if you want to display the computer screen. The first time the button is pushed, you will see "Detecting ... RGB1". This mode displays the computer, and is the one most commonly used. The next push of the button will show "Detecting ... RGB2". This mode is not used and will not display anything. The third time it is pushed, the projector will display "Detecting ... DVI". This mode is also not used and will not display anything. Another button press will cycle back to the first mode.

MENU

This group of buttons controls the projector's menu. This includes things such as brightness, contrast, position and other such things commonly found on displays. You will most likely not need to use these buttons.

MAGNIFY

This group of buttons will zoom the projector in. You can use the + and - buttons to zoom in and out. The OFF button will reset it back to its original zoom.

VOLUME

This group of buttons controls the volume for the speakers. You can increase the volume using the up arrow and decrease the volume using the down arrow. The MUTE button will turn off sound.

COMMAND

The COMMAND switch must be in the ON position for the remote to work. Turning this switch to OFF disables all buttons on the remote.

MUTING

The MUTING group has two buttons. The AUDIO button will mute the audio, turning off sound. The PICTURE button will mute the picture, causing the projector to no longer display anything. This can be useful if you want to prevent the projector from displaying something for a small period of time, and do not wish to turn it off.

INPUT

The INPUT button cycles the projector between four modes of display. The first press of the button will cause the projector to display "INPUT-A". This is the mode that will display the computer screen. A second press of the button will display "INPUT-B". This mode is not used and will not display anything. The third press of the button will display "VIDEO". This mode will show the VCR. The fourth push of the button will display "S-VIDEO". This mode is not used and will not show anything. Another push of the button will cycle the mode back to INPUT-A.

MENU

This group of buttons controls the projectors menu. It is used for things such as brightness and contrast control. You will probably not need to use these buttons.

VOLUME

These two buttons control the volume. The + button will increase volume, while the - button will decrease the volume.
