Below is information about what television and video services are available and how to request them.
TV Services has a number of cameras and tripods available for checkout for university class projects. Equipment can be reserved in advanced by stopping at the checkout desk in 113 Kleinpell Fine Arts. Due to high demand, equipment is only available for university projects and not for personal use. Anyone checking out equipment must be trained in its use before checkout time. TV Services staff will train individuals or faculty can request a presentation to their class if a video project is planned. For additional information about restrictions and policies regarding fines and damage to equipment, please view the television services checkout policy.
With proper copyright clearance, TV Services can duplicate tapes for a small fee. Videotape can be bought directly from TV Services or you can provide your own for dubbing. Multiple copies and transfers from one video format to another may also be possible depending on the circumstances.
TV Services will license, tune in and videotape Ku, C band analog and digital satellite downlinks or live video conferences. Throughout the year, flyers will be forwarded to all departments on campus outlining the specific programs offered by PBS, our main source for downlinks.
The Television Studio, located in 114 KFA, is available for special projects and tapings. Examples of classes that have used the studio include Communicative Disorders, Conducting, Social Work and Journalism. The studio is welcome to all colleges and departments. Call early to ensure the time and staff are available for your class or project. If extra staff are needed to operate equipment, a fee may be charged. Program content is subject to policy requirements.
TV Services updates and maintains the electronic campus bulletin board as seen on channel 19. Announcements you wish to appear on this board should be brief, pertain to the university, and should include a contact person. Drop off your ad in 113 KFA or fax it to 425-0669. Ads usually run for 2 weeks unless additional time is requested. Non-university ads may be placed for a small fee.
The head end of the campus cable network is located in 114 KFA. Programs are taped in the TV Services studio or at remote locations and air on channel 19 on the UWRF campus and in Hudson and River Falls. TV Services maintains and operates the automatic playback system for these channels and regulates programming.
