Requesting network accounts and services for new student employees

This guide highlights the network resources new student employees are likely to need and describes how to obtain them. Our goal is to give new student employees access to these resources as early as possible.

First step: Check the online phonebook
If a student is not listed in the online phonebook then they may not yet be a student. If they are no longer a student, they cannot actually work as student employees. If they are an incoming student, but are not yet a student, it will be more difficult to setup accounts for them. Let us know if this is happening when you request student accounts so we can set them up correctly.

Network file storage
If the student needs access to network file storage (like the department G: drive), that is granted in one of two ways.

  1. If the department has a student employee group in eSIS, rights have probably been granted to FalconFile based on membership in that group. So to add a new student employee, the student employee administrator should visit eSIS and add them to their student employee group. In eSIS, go to Campus Community > Committees/Groups > Manage Committees/Groups.
  2. If the student employee supervisor wants to grant a student employee access as an individual, go to FalconFile in your web browser and grant them permissions as described in this document.
