Telecommunication Services

The Telecommunications Services unit of IT Services is charged with design, installation, maintenance and support of the physical infrastructure pertaining to the electronic transportation of information within and connected to the UW-River Falls campus.

Specific examples of the functions this Unit is charged with are the design, installation, maintenance and technical support of:

• The fiber-optics plant within and between buildings (telephone, data, television and special-purpose).
• The copper wiring plant within and between buildings (telephone, data, television and special-purpose).
• All voice telephone systems (specification, installation, troubleshooting, repairs, handsets, wiring, jacks).
• All on-campus television services (distribution, satellite down-linking, equipment).
• Support of Distance Education facilities (WONDER, WestWING, etc.).
• Repairs to and maintenance of electronic equipment directly associated with the above functions.
